Between Alagoas and Sergipe, the Xingó hydroelectric plant is operated by Companhia Hidro Elétrica do São Francisco.
With a storage capacity of 3.8 trillion liters in its reservoir, Xingó has an installed capacity of 3,162MW.
The hydroelectric plant is 179 km from the mouth of São Francisco, between the municipalities of Piaçabuçu (Alagoas) and Brejo Grande (Sergipe) Brazil.
